Pathology Collection Services at Paterson Healthcare

Getting a blood test or other diagnostic test should not be complicated. At Paterson Healthcare, we offer pathology collection services on-site, so you can have your samples collected at the same practice where you see your GP – without a separate trip across town.

Our pathology collection centre operates in partnership with Australian Clinical Labs, a leading provider of diagnostic pathology across Australia. Once your GP issues a referral, our trained collection staff are available on-site to collect blood, urine, and other samples during scheduled collection hours.

Pathology collection is available at Paterson Healthcare on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM. We recommend calling our reception team to confirm current collection times before your visit.

Please note: samples collected on-site are sent to Australian Clinical Labs for analysis. Results are returned to your referring doctor, who will discuss your findings with you at a follow-up appointment.

What Our Pathology Collection Services Include

01   Blood Tests

Blood tests are one of the most common forms of diagnostic pathology. Your GP may request a blood test to check for a wide range of conditions, including infections, anaemia, cholesterol levels, blood sugar, thyroid function, and more. Our collection staff follow standard clinical protocols for safe and comfortable blood collection.

02   Urine Tests

Urine samples may be requested to assess kidney function, screen for urinary tract infections, check for diabetes markers, or support pregnancy-related testing. Our team provides clear instructions to ensure your sample is collected correctly before submission to the laboratory.

03   Chronic Disease Monitoring

Patients managing chronic conditions such as diabetes, thyroid disorders, or cardiovascular disease often require regular pathology to track their health over time. We support your GP's ongoing monitoring plan by providing convenient, regular pathology collection at your local practice.

04   Pre-Surgery and Health Assessment Pathology

Before certain procedures or health assessments, your doctor may request pathology to establish a baseline. We can collect these samples on-site and coordinate with your referring doctor to support your care plan.

05   Referral-Based Collection

All pathology collection at Paterson Healthcare requires a current referral from a GP. If you do not have a referral, you can book an appointment with one of our doctors first. Walk-in collection without a referral is not available.

06   Results and Follow-Up

Pathology results are returned directly to your referring doctor by Australian Clinical Labs. Your doctor will contact you to discuss your results or arrange a follow-up appointment. Please do not contact the clinic expecting same-day results, as processing times are set by the laboratory.

How to Book Pathology Collection at Paterson Healthcare

To attend for pathology collection, you will need a referral from a GP. If you already have a referral from your own doctor or another practice, simply bring the form with you and arrive during our collection hours.

If you need a referral first, book a GP appointment at Paterson Healthcare and our doctors can assess your needs and issue a request form at the same visit.

When booking, please let our reception team know you are attending for pathology collection so they can confirm current collection availability and preparation requirements for your test.
